Warhammer Fantasy
High Elf Archers
Our Rating:
Product Summary
If you have the Warhammer Fantasy 'Islands of Blood' box set and you are wanting to expand your High Elf
army, one of the first recommendations is to add a High Elf Archer unit. These come as box sets. In this section we
will have a look at what you get.
Contents
In this box you get 16 High Elf archers and enough pieces to convert some of these in to a Hawkeye champion,
musician, Standard Bearer command section. These are on 1” (2.5cm) bases designed to rank up.
Pros
The are easy to build (clippers, & glue
required, available separately), and are easy to arrange so they rank up nicely. As usual there are a
selection of spares. There are 4 spare pair of legs. This allows you to choose if you want the use the 4
needling posed legs, or just the standing ones, or a mix of the two. There are also enough spares to make up
to four command groups. This may be useful for future conversions. There is also a selection of arrow sheaths,
cloaks and head gear to add some character to your unit.
Cons
There are a couple of niggles with the High Elf Archers box. The first is that there are 16 models in the
box. The squad size is 10+, there are 4 extra sets of legs and enough arms to make 20 High Elves, you are just
missing the torso's and heads. The second quibble is that the figures are not as detailed as they could be. When I
looked at the sprue, I noticed that it was copyright 2000. This makes sense. The rules in this time favored a front
line of 4, so this box set would have made 2 full units. As it stands if you get 2 boxes of archers you have enough
models to make 3 Squads of 10, with 2 models left over.
Conclusion
The High Elf Archers are good quality models that are starting to how their age, but easy to build, and add much
needed fire power to your High Elf army.
