Fantasy Orc and Goblin Hero Tactics

The Orc and Goblin Heroes add extra muscle to the army. not only can the Hero increase the leadership for a unit, but one hero can be upgraded to be a Battle Standard Bearer (BSB).

The Battle standard bearer allows those unit with in range to re-roll their leadership rolls. With an army like the Orc and Goblin army every advantage that you can get to improve the leadership is worth a fair few points.

Big Bosses are not the only Hero choices available in the Orc and Goblin army. There are a number of Shaman, the Orc and Goblin magic users too.

Named Heroes

The Orc and Goblin army has a number of named heroes that you can use in your army. As usual these named character come with a number of special rules, and are pointed appropriately. This means that if you forget, or do not have chance to use these special rules, you could be throwing points away that you could be using more efficiently elsewhere in your army list.

Snagla Grobspit

Snagla Grosbspit is a Goblin spider rider special character. Snagla has to be attached to a unit of Spider Riders, and the special rules that he adds to this unit allow the unit to come on the board as ambushers, and have some extra thump inthe assault.

As normal spider riders have a bonus when assaulting garrisoned buildings anyway, the extra rules that Snagla Grobspit adds to a spider rider unit means that this unit will be extra useful at assaulting garrisoned war machines behind the enemy lines.

As Snagla Grobspit is an ambush specialist, he will be a poor choice as a battle standard bearer. Usually you will want the BSB in the center of your main force where as this usit will work best away from the main force distupting your enemies rear ranks.

I do not know of a Snagla Grodspit model, so if you want to field Snagla you will need to stylise a Spider Rider with some green stuff (a cape?) or spair bits like Empire army trophies.

The Night Goblin Shaman is a les powerful and cheaper (in points) version of the Goblin Great Shaman. This means that the Night Goblin Shaman can be a level one or two magic user using the little waaargh spells.

Night Goblin Shamans are useful as magic users in lowwer pointed games or as additional magic resource for the army.

The Night Goblin Shaman is different from the regular Goblin Shaman because he has the Night Goblin special rules, and the Magic Mushrooms. The Magic Mushrooms make the Night Goblin Shamans magic use a little more random than usual. 5 in 6 times this will be that you will get a bouns when it comes to casting spells, but 1 in 12 attempts thing will go horribly wrong!
