Warriors of Chaos
Core Unit Tactics
The Warriors of Chaos have a full compliment of core units in the Warriors of Chaos army book. This will help
you create a well rounded army list.
Chaos Warriors Tactics
The Chaos Warriors are the usual choice for the Chaos army rank and file troops.
The Chaos Warriors are though too. They have above average Strength and toughness, there Initiative and
leadership is well high too, and on top of this the Chaos Warriors get Chaos Armour too. Chaos Armour gives a 4+
armour save even before you add a shield or any special rules. However, all this hardware comes at a cost, the
points cost of the Chaos Warrior is high. You can get 4 Chaos Marauders for the cost of one Chaos Warrior. This
means that you will need to make sure you get the Chaos Warriors in to action as soon as possible. If you loose a
Warrior to missile fire or magic then this is a severe loss.
Chaos Marauders Tactics
The Chaos Marauders are reconed to be the points best value per model unit in the game. And there are a few good
reasons for this. The Chaos Marauders cost the same as a Empire rank and file trooper but has +1 Ws, +1 initiative,
the have The Will of Chaos, the option to be upgraded with one of the Marks of Chaos, and their additional
Equipment are cheap too.
The Chaos marauders are good value for the points, but you still need a large unit to make them effective. You
can have a unit of 10, but you should be thinking in the region of 40+ Marauders per unit.
The Chaos Marauders Marks of Chaos
The Chaos Marauders can have a Mark of Chaos. These marks are a one of points cost for the whole unit. This
means that the more models you have in a unit the better value the upgrades are.
The Mark of Nurgle
The Mark of Nurgle decreases the opponents chance of hitting the unit. This will help the unit to get in to
combat, and when they are in combat they will dodge a few more hits. Remember that the Marauders have +1 WS over
the average as standard, so with the +1 to the WS that this mark gives, many of the more elite enemy units
struggling to land a hit. I expect that this will surprise opponents the first time you use this tactic.
The Mark of Khorne
The Mark of Khorne is the obvious choice for a close assault unit, and having frenzy
is useful. However it is very predictable. This means that your opponent may have a prepared counter tactics. This
means tactically this can be a poor choice, unless you have a very, very, cunning plan.
The Mark of Slaanesh
The Mark of Slaanesh gives the unit immunity to the main leadership test based tests.
As Warhammer Fantasy is based around leadership and getting the enemy units to run, this is a major bonus for a
unit. With this mark you will make the unit a reliable force that you can use to create a solid front line. Of the
marks available, this is defiantly the tacticians favourite.
Chaos Warhounds Tactics
Warhounds are quick and cheap. This makes them great units to spring any traps like the Goblin Maniacs.
